Lindsey in South Africa!

One of our Young People is currently in South Africa for 6 months serving at a Church in Clarens. Read Lindsey's report here.

I was originally asked to keep this to 300 words, but that is not enough to tell you what a great time I am having here and all that God is doing in Dihlabeng Church! The church is so passionate and has such a desire to help the poor. There will be two new church plants this year, in Fouriseburg and Phutadjhaba, and the church has just begun training 10 future leaders who will one day plant other churches. The church is so involved in the community and I am so excited about all the projects it runs.

I spend two days a week in school, mainly in Grade 4 or 5/6/7, doing everything from wall displays to making popcorn! I also teach a Grade 2 craft class on Tuesdays. It is great getting to know the children, and being involved in the school. I love helping at The Orphan Family; the children are so sweet and it is great fun to dance and play with them, even though communication with the younger ones is difficult! I am also helping at Access Empowerment, which helps Basotho people learn computer skills and English to make them more employable. I shall be helping with English teaching to the leaders of Reheboth church (a plant from Dihlabeng) in Lesotho. I am also taking Sesotho lessons at Access Empowerment, which is good fun and should be useful for talking to older people and little children, whose English is not normally very good!

Once a week, I visit sick people in the township, with People of Hope, to pray with and advise them. The first time I went it was difficult, I was shocked by the poverty of some of the people; but the work that People of Hope are doing is brilliant, and they are always getting opportunities to share about Jesus. Wednesdays I visit a cell group in a Lesotho village, where a church will be planted later this year. As a third-world country, Lesotho is a lot poorer than South Africa, and there are few prospects for people, but God is working in the church there.

I am having such an amazing time here and I am so excited about all God is doing in the church and in me, I would write so much more but there is no more room!
