Community Events

King's Church Uckfield is an active part of the community and gets involved in many events throughout the year, as well as hosting some of their own.

Uckfield Festival Big Day Out- 10th July 2010

King's Church has been celebrating the Uckfield Festival Big Day Out for quite a few years now, distributing free teas and coffees through the day, as well as putting on puppet shows, painting faces and giving balloons to the children.  This year was no exception as we sat in the glorious sunshine and enjoyed a fantastic day of the community coming together. 

In the evening, we also hosted our annual Concert which has gained something of a reputation in the town and become an established part of the Festival Programme.  This year we were entertained by the respected IDMC Gospel Choir who have also performed at Pavarotti's wedding as well as many other major events including Olympic 2012 promotional events.

The event was held in Uckfield Civic Centre,and was also broadcast live on Uckfield FM.

IDMC were in top form on the night and sang a number of well known pop hits as well as many gospel songs.  At one point in the evening their number swelled as they invited people on the stage to sing with them. 

They also shared individual stories of how God has blessed them and changed their lives completetly.

Churches in Uckfield Funday on Sunday

As part of Churches in Uckfield, we help put on a family Funday that is the finale of the Uckfield Festival.

This year it was on the 18th July, 2-5 pm on Luxford Field.  There were games, bouncy castles, crafts and fun for all the family, all of which was free.  There was also a 'Songs of Praise' time during the afternoon.

We were again blessed with glorious sunshine and the crowds enjoyed every minute of what was a terrific day out.

Uckfield Carnival

In previous years, we have had a float in the town's annual torchlit Carnival procession, even winning a prize one year!

We were not in the 2009 Carnival, but keep an eye out for us this year!

Late Night Shopping

Along with St Wilfred's Hospice, Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, Uckfield Lions and Uckfield FM, we hoped to make the 2009 Uckfield Late Night Shopping event on Friday 11th December a great success.

We were to be found near Uckfield Picture House where we gave free mulled wine and mince pies to all that came along.

We also had our puppet team giving performances at three or four points during the night, and in between times we were pleased to welcome Uckfield Concert Brass as they played Christmas Carols for us.

Christmas Celebration

This year we host our annual Christmas Celebration on 19th December 2009 at the Uckfield Civic Centre. 

We are still finalising the programme for the evening but it looks to be a fantastic evening of entertainment which we would love everyone to come along to.  It is completely free!
