King's Church Uckfield has its humble beginnings back in 1983 when a group of Christians in Uckfield formed the Uckfield Christian Fellowship, initially meeting in the Day Centre in the town. As the Church grew over the years, they moved the meetings to Rocks Park Primary School, Uckfield Community College and eventually to the Uckfield Civic Centre where we meet today.
In the early days, oversight of the church was given by the leadership of a church in a nearby village but, in 1987, it became apparent that the church should have its own leadership; the church was constituted as The King’s Church, Uckfield and was led by Simon Pettit. In August 1990 Simon moved with his family to South Africa to assume leadership of Jubilee Community Church in Cape Town.
The period from 1990-1998 saw a number of changes in the leadership resulting from God’s call on various people's lives. Around this time the office was moved from the High Street to Wealden Lodge, and in May 1997 Crowborough Community Church was planted out.
The team of leaders since 1998 has been Robert Thursfield, Jon Scott and Steve May-Miller and they continue to the present day.
In September 2003, the office was moved from Wealden Lodge to King's Centre in Grange Road, and we continue to hold some meetings and midweek groups there.
In March 2008 King's celebrated its 25th anniversary and had a party in June of 2008 inviting members from through the years.
In October 2008 the administration of King's Church Uckfield was transferred from a charitable trust to a charitable company limited by guarantee.
