Whilst King's Church Uckfield is actively involved in working with the local community, it is also part of something bigger: seeing God's kingdom advance in every corner of the world.
In response to this, we have involvement with work in several nations including Bolivia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Germany and Albania.
We support a family from the church in the wonderful work they do with street children in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
David and Sarah Adjei moved to Bolivia some years ago to serve the street children of Santa Cruz, many of whom sniff glue and live in poverty and danger. They have run a girls' home that cares for the girls, and sometimes their babies.
Recently David and Sarah have planted their own church, which is also part of newfrontiers,in Santa Cruz. They gather members from across the city.
We are proud to support them, and their three lovely girls, in as many ways as we can. We sent two members on a gap year across to support them for three months: one even went back for another three months!
We work with a young church in Ladybrand, South Africa with Robert Thursfield, our lead elder, going there to train leaders and minister to the church there every one to two years.
We have sent gap year students to help this church and the many people they serve. An AIDS orphanage is one of the many ways that a small church in South Africa can help the poor and desperate people there.
We are proud to be working with the leadership team in South Africa towards the goal that God has given them.
Two of our members have been visiting a small group of believers in Panjaket, Tajikistan since 2006.
Keith and Norma used to own and run a family nursery and used this experience to help a small church plant build and establish a poly-tunnel to grow their own food in this poor country.
Germany
Nigel Dutton, who has given the church apostolic oversight for some years, is going to Berlin to start a church plant there. We are delighted to be supporting him through what is expected to be a difficult first year.
King's Church Uckfield has also been looking into the possibility of partnering with churches in Albania.
Robert Thursfield has visited the region and helped to train leaders whilst establishing relationships that we hope will be long lasting and fruitful.
