People
The King's Church is led by a team of elders who organise what we do, and look out for the people.
There are others who run the various groups and activities.
Robert Thursfield
Robert is the senior pastor. He was born and raised in Birmingham, and became a
Christian when he was eighteen through the example of a friend. He moved
to Uckfield with his wife Nicky in 1998.
They have two grown up children.
Robert trained in mechanical engineering
before going to Bible College. In 1976 they went to Bolivia working for four years Church planting.
When they got back to Birmingham, Robert started and ran two Churches before coming to Uckfield.
Robert likes getting to know Uckfield's people, and looks for ways to get involved with
projects and groups in the town.
Jon Scott
Jon and his wife Siri moved to Uckfield in 1983, having previously lived in Hong Kong.
They have three sons: Daniel, Peter and Tom. Jon runs a company specialising in soil engineering.
Jon and Siri look after the teenagers' and young people's groups. Jon wants the church
to do stuff in the community, and Christians to be enthusiastic about God.
He constantly brings this passion into the elders' meetings as they consider
church life together.
Steve May-Miller
Steve and his wife Ann moved to Uckfield in 1996 with their two
children. Steve is deputy CEO of Spring Harvest, a major
national Christian event organisation.
Steve is responsible for music and worship in the church. His vision is for
a church where worship is enjoyed and expressed at every level and in all
age groups.
