As we approach Christmas and the end of the year we look back with thankfulness in our hearts for the privilege it has been to serve so many over the last year. So many countries visited and so many new friends made. We want to thank you all for standing with us in prayer and support, the emails, notes and financial help means so much to us, A BIG THANK YOU!
INDIA: On the 6 November we flew to India, making a return visit. What a privilege it was to spend time with the leaders of World in Need, many of whom have now become friends. It was a challenge to hear of the many difficult situations they face, but encouraging to hear of the ways God is blessing them. Nicky brought the World In Need’s Women’s Policy that she had been working on, to loud ‘amens’ from the women (and some of the men, including a big cheer from Robert who was proud to see her contribution to the work of World in Need).
Robert did a day’s teaching on Raising up the Next Generation, which was well received. Many invitations have been received for us to visit and bring leadership training. Nicky flew home on Monday14 November. Robert travelled on to the Philippines.
PHILIPPINES: On Sunday 13 November Robert and Noel, the World in Need Philippines representative, flew on to the Philippines, Robert was shocked at how long it took to get to Baguio, 26 hours from Delhi! The world is much bigger than we think! The traffic in Manila was horrendous! Their luggage missed the connection and came on the next flight, meaning that they left on the bus for Baguio in the middle of the rush hour. The bus journey that should have taken 4 hours ended up taking 71/2 hours, arriving at 12.30am!
Having settled in it was good to spend time with Noel, his wife and family as well as visiting the Cypress Christian School (the school World in Need helps, sponsoring a number of the children).
Again Robert was overwhelmed with the privilege it was to share with the students and visitors at the Bible School. He spoke on a number of subjects over the three days, the teaching on ‘Leading when things are Tough’ was particular well received
On the Sunday they celebrated the Church’s 22nd anniversary, lots of visitors and wonderful Philippine food afterwards!
Flying home on the long 28 hour journey from hotel to home Robert was overwhelmed again with thankfulness to God for the privilege it was to spend time with these dear people.
Well our travels for this year are now over and we have time to spend this Christmas with our family and friends. How amazing it is to remember that this child born in Bethlehem was the Saviour of the world.
