Under Ones meets at the Foresters Hall from 1-2.30pm on Thursday afternoons during term time as a get-together for parents and carers of babies up to a year old.
Many mums and carers have found it valuable to meet new people, catch up with old friends and consume lots of tea and coffee. We are always well attended and our local Health Visitors heartily recommend us to new mums in the town, knowing we give everyone a warm welcome.
We have a range of play equipment for the babies to enjoy; from baby gyms and rattles for the little ones, to interactive toys for the older ones. You can join the Under Ones Uckfield Facebook group too.
When your baby reaches their first birthday they are able to go to Over Ones…
Over Ones is a group for children aged 1 to 2 years that meets at the Foresters Hall from 10-11.30am on Thursday mornings during term time.
We aim to provide a safe, relaxed atmosphere for you and your little one with age appropriate toys and activities for them, and an opportunity for a cuppa and a chat with the other mums for you.
During the session we stop for drinks, songs and story time, encouraging your child to learn the songs and rhymes as well as sit and listen to the stories. All sessions and refreshments are free. You can join the Over Ones Uckfield Facebook group here.
Children stay until the end of the term that they are 2 years old. We find that by then they have begun to outgrow what we can offer.
Through the course of the year we organise ‘Colour’, ‘Craft Days’, a photographer, put on a Christmas party as well as a Teddy Bear’s picnic for the children in the summer. Making sure mums don’t miss out, we organise a Christmas meal just for them.
Every summer Under Ones gets together with Over Ones for a pamper day just for mums and we enjoy a Christmas meal together every year too.
In June 2016 we launched a new group which catered for children that had outgrown Over Ones but did not yet have funding for nursery as we noticed that this was an age where there were not too many opportunities for parents to meet and their children to play.
These sessions are on Friday mornings, 9.45-11.15am and you are welcome to come along with your two-year-old to enjoy the toys, craft and other fun, and there will be tea and coffee for the grown-ups too!
Our weekly youth club for school years 7-11 which is held at The Source, 7-9pm each Friday in term time (except when there is a joint youth event on the Saturday – see the calendar for details). Please feel free to come along for a time of fun, friendship and getting to know God better – quite often there is food too.
We are a mix of people from all sorts of backgrounds and all ages, and a warm welcome is extended to everyone, whatever their circumstances. We have anywhere between 20 and 30 people coming along each week, so there is bound to be someone you can talk to.
We hope every one feels comfortable and enjoys being at Open Door. Some appreciate a chance to talk, to make new friends, others simply enjoy the company and a nice slice of delicious cake.
Our Sunday morning meetings are where the whole church is gathered, but we also meet in smaller groups through the week.
Groups of around 10 – 12 meet in homes around the town and surrounding villages on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night.
Worshipping God, discussing the application of the Sunday sermon to our lives, praying for each other and sharing fun and fellowship are the main priorities of these groups. Groups often share social events together and are a vital part of the support of church members when life takes an unexpected turn.
