As you are hopefully aware, we as a church are connected with a work in north western Bulgaria headed-up by our dear friend Georgi. He is based in the town of Vratsa and oversees a number of churches in nearby settlements. Georgi is a truly special leader and we are so privileged to be able to partner him in what he and his team are doing. Jon, Siri and I were out visiting him recently and were greatly blessed by our time there.
Georgi has approached the mayor of Vratsa and asked how the church can serve the town and was told about the group of homeless people who live in an old school building. The council give them their lunch each day but they receive no breakfast or evening meal so Georgi said they would like to meet these people’s need for two other daily meals. This commitment to feed around fifteen people will cost £240 per month and the other week I invited people here to consider whether they would be willing to pledge to give £10 per month for two years to help towards covering this cost. I was looking for around twenty people and I am delighted to say we have reached that number; Georgi is thrilled and humbled by our support – thank you church!
I want to say a massive thank you to all those who helped with the Easter Saturday kids fun morning. Once again we had a full house as children of the town enjoyed inflatables, face painting and craft and their parents / carers had some light refreshments. I was so proud of this great effort from all of you who helped.
Can I ask you to consider working your diary around some of the key set-piece community events that we do in the year. It would be great if the number of volunteers at events like the Festival Day on the field and the Churches Funday coming up increased because people registered these things as a priority and realise what wonderful opportunities they are to bless people and represent the church together.
I am so thrilled that Ruth is overseeing the Sunday morning kids work; I love it that she believes that these precious ones can come to know Jesus, be filled with his Spirit, enjoy relationship with him and move in the gifts of the Spirit. I asked her to give a report on what she is doing.
Children’s Work Update
Most of you may now be aware that as of February I started as the Children’s Worker for King’s Church. My main focus is on producing and preparing material for Sunday morning and heading up the team of volunteers who serve the kids so wonderfully, as well as getting to know the children and their parents.
At the moment we are doing a series called ‘Who is God?’ and so far, we have looked at God the Trinity, God the creator, God the Father and we are now moving onto God the Son and then God the Holy Spirit.
I am praying that through these sessions the children will encounter God and build on their relationship with him. I am praying that they will understand that being a Christian doesn’t mean just coming to church on a Sunday, but a commitment that takes your whole life.
I would love to see them grow in expectancy to see miraculous healings, and to have them praying with members of the church as well as each other. I would also love for them to understand and grow in the gifts of the Spirit such as prophesy. I know these are huge things, but I am expectant that God can use the children of King’s Church in amazing ways.
Please join me in praying for all the children, from the babies up to the youth, that they would meet with God each Sunday and that they would enjoy their relationship with God. Please pray for consistent attendance and numerical increase too.
